Listening Sessions for Abuse Scandal

In response to the recent abuse scandal, our parish will be offering two listening sessions.

  • Sunday, September 30 at 2:00 - 4:00 p.m.

  • Wednesday, October 3 at 7:00 - 9:00 p.m.

It is apparent that the Catholic Clergy Abuse Crisis is a chapter in the life of our church now that seems to have no end. Catholics are feeling deep sadness, anger, and pain regarding this and wondering how all of this could have happened.

It is heartbreaking to learn about the suffering of the victims and compounding our heartbreak is the disbelief and horror that the Church leaders opted for scandal-management over the welfare of our children.

All of this raises questions about the meaning of this for our church, for the faith of its members, and how trust might be restored.

I along with members of the staff at Seton Parish feel it is time to offer a setting for our parishioners to share your thoughts, feelings, and hopes in this painful and difficult time. We are a strong, loving parish here at Seton and I believe such a dialogue in a respectful setting can help move us toward growth, healing, and change.

We will begin by offering two opportunities for the parish to gather for prayer, conversation, and support:

  • Sunday, September 30 at 2:00 - 4:00 p.m.

  • Wednesday, October 3 at 7:00 - 9:00 p.m.

I and members of the Seton Parish staff look forward to spending that time with you. Given the topics being discussed, these conversations will be for adults only.
