About Columbian Squires

The Columbian Squires, the official youth organization of the Knights of Columbus, is a leadership and character development program for Catholic young men, 10-18 years old.  The Seton Parish Columbian Squires Circle #4891 is a ministry designed to prepare Catholic young men to become leaders among their fellow citizens through spiritual, cultural, civic, social and physical development.

The Squires are responsible for the development of its youth in all these ways through participation in a variety of leisure activities, church retreats, and professional meetings.  The Squires are also responsible for assisting the Knights of Columbus Counsel at many church events including Pancake Breakfasts and fish fries where the Squires help serve drinks as well as set up and tear down the events.

Any boy of age 10-18 who is a practicing Catholic can join.  Meetings occur once a month, usually on the fourth Sunday after the 11:15 a.m. Mass in classroom 10.

The time commitment is very flexible since we understand that many members are also involved in school sports, clubs, church groups, and many other extracurricular activities.  So although the Squires typically have one meeting a month, then there are optional service and fun activities that run throughout the year.

Squires enjoy fellowship with other young men through a variety of sports and other leisure activities and participate in spiritual retreats and service projects where they grow closer to God and exemplify service to God and to others.  Squires also become leaders by learning how to run and participate in professional meetings, experience how teamwork is utilized in service projects, and develop other skills that further develop the Catholic Man.
